Weekly Weigh In – Wk 9

For a week of pretty much no motivation until yesterday… I’m quite pleased with that.

The scales were cleaned after this close up pic showed up so much dust!

Hello Weekend

Well, I think I’ve smashed this Saturday morning.

Remember yesterday’s no motivation post?

Well I’ve completed a Nike morning workout for just under half an hour and also the Couch to 5 k first run for half an hour too. But you’re on week two I hear you say… I’m starting again for my partner who has decided they want to do it too.

Have a great weekend all!

Motivation or Lack of

I don’t know whether it’s the intense humid heat that’s made me lethargic and lacking energy this week or just pure laziness. I’ve done absolutely no extra exercise. I’ve had zero motivation whatsoever.

After a days work in full PPE in the hospital, sweating and aching legs make getting up and going out to exercise once getting home even harder.

What does not help is that I am way overdue on my period. My hormones are still all over the shop.

Just need that bit of mentality back to get out of the rut that this week has been.

What do you all use for motivation when you get like this?

Sunday Weigh In Week 2

UNDER THE 18 STONE THRESHOLD.

After a week of cutting down on the food mainly at dinner times and a walk here and there, I’ve managed to knock off a few pounds.

Proof won’t be in the pudding – it will be in if I can maintain or lose this coming week.

I’ve got a recipe and a walk blog I can’t wait to share with you all this week so keep your eyes peeled for those.

The Scales Can Sometimes Lie, Mirrors Don’t.

Today, whilst at work I weighed myself. I haven’t weighed myself in months. Possibly even since before Christmas.

What I know is that the last time I weighed myself, I was heavier than I had been in a while. Just under 16st. Looking down at the scales today I was given a huge shock – a crash landing back to Earth. 115kg … 18stone!! What the actual fuck?! I don’t think I’ve been that heavy in my life. I knew I’d put some on but didn’t think it was that much.

This was quite possibly the kick in the teeth that I need. As you know, I’ve started going walking where I can again and eating better. But I could do more. This is where that happens.

A few years ago I posted my start pics. Today I shall post them again, I’m pretty much back to that point or even beyond it to be honest. I hope to then post an updated pic of my progress every month from then on. It may spur me on when things start getting tough and I feel like caving in and eating my weight in crap. The prospect of the hard work to come is daunting and, honestly, upsetting. It took months and months and months of blood sweat and tears last time. Torture to start with until I finally started to enjoy it. However, it’s my own fault and I just have to suck it up and focus on my health. After all, if we didn’t know already, these strange times have certainly reminded us that health is everything.

So, without further or do, here are my current pics. 18stone! My goodness. No wonder my back and knees hurt. Let’s see how things go from here.

Keep safe all,

Cupboard Carbonara

Thought I’d just share this quick whipped up recipe for a take on spaghetti carbonara using items you may have left in your cupboards/fridges. A really simple and quick recipe taking about 15-20 mins.

What I found that I wanted to use for this was:

  • Linguine pasta
  • 2 eggs
  • Pack of un-smoked bacon
  • 2 x Sausages (needed to use them up)
  • Spinach
  • Garlic or garlic powder
  • Sea salt
  • Ground peppercorns
  • Olive oil

I don’t like cheese but if you have some add it too!

1) Start by boiling your pasta.

2) Cut your bacon and sausages into small pieces.

3) Heat a small amount of olive oil in a pan and add a lot of garlic/garlic powder, salt and pepper.

4) Add the cut up sausages and bacon to the pan and cook through stirring occasionally.

5) Ensure pasta is cooked and drain suitably.

6) Crack two eggs into a jar and stir with a fork.

7) Add the pasta into the on with the bacon and sausages and also add the spinach. Lower the heat. Stir until ingredients are evenly spread.

8) Add the egg into the pan sporadically whilst stirring.

9) Add in extra garlic and pepper and keep mixing in the until the egg has cooked.

10) Serve into a bowl add sprinkle a few raw spinach leaves on top.

Enjoy!

Breakfast Time without Mistletoe and Wine.

A day off means I got to do breakfast properly!

2 pancakes with strawberries and a banana. Combo of natural and not so natural sugars helping me keep full until lunch time with my sweet tooth kept well and truly sweet (a way to help me get amd keep my cravings under control).

My new fave 1st meal of the day and one that I am going to try and make time for before work….or I could take it to work…

Breakfast Club

Breakfast – the most important meal of the day. It’s the one I most struggle with. I’m one of those people who would prefer an extra 15 minutes in bed than get up and make a good breakfast and sit and eat it. So previously I’ve just grabbed something out of the cupboard and eaten it at work.

Now, however, I have found something thats quick to make (either at home or at work) and doesn’t require me to sit down and eat it like a Full English.

Here’s how to make it…

Tablespoon of Hemp seeds.Add half a cup of chocolate soya milk. Top it up with hazelnut milk and give it a stir. Cover with a layer of flax seeds. ‘Decorate’ with strawberries.

Voila! A seedy, chocolatey, nutty and fruity breakfast. It is much more filling than you may believe. Try it and see what you think!

Does Apple Cider Vinegar Work?

A colleague told me today to take 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with water a day in the morning. She told me to eat as you would and dont do any more exercise than you would and you notice the difference in 2 odd months.

Well lady..you’re on. Lets see if this isn’t just any old wives story and find out if it does help along the way.

Anyone else tried this before? Notice any difference? Let me know!
